A CT Calcium Score measures the amount of calcium in the walls of your coronary arteries — a strong, well-validated predictor of your future cardiovascular risk. The whole scan takes minutes and requires no contrast.

What to expect

  • Quick, non-contrast CT of the chest, focused on the coronary arteries.
  • Results go to your referring doctor within 48 hours on average.
  • Score reported on the Agatston scale — your doctor uses it alongside other risk factors to guide treatment.

How to prepare

  • No fasting required.
  • Avoid caffeine and intense exercise for 24 hours before the scan, as both raise your heart rate.
  • Wear a top free of metal across the chest area.

Flat fee of $155. A GP referral is required, and no Medicare rebate is available for this study.
