Privacy notice

Border Radiology Specialists complies with the Australian Privacy Act 1988 and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs). This is the plain-English summary of how we handle your information.

Last updated: 13 May 2026.

What we collect

To provide radiology services, we collect: your name and date of birth, your contact details, your Medicare and/or DVA details, your referring practitioner's details, your relevant medical history (provided by you or your referrer), and the imaging studies we perform on you including the radiologist's report.

Why we collect it

We use this information solely to deliver, bill and report on the scan you've come in for, and to communicate the results to the doctor who referred you. We do not use your health information for marketing.

Who we share it with

  • The doctor who referred you (the report and images)
  • Other treating practitioners you ask us to send results to
  • Medicare or your private health insurer for billing
  • Our PACS / RIS technology providers (Intelerad) — they host the imaging archive under contracted privacy obligations
  • Authorities where legally required (e.g. mandatory reporting obligations under public health legislation)

We do not sell your information. We do not transfer your imaging data offshore for primary reporting — every report is signed by an Australian radiologist who lives within a few hours of the clinic.

How we store it

Imaging and reports are stored in our Intelerad PACS, hosted in Australia. Contact details and booking records are stored in our practice-management system. Access is restricted by role and audited.

Your rights

Under the Australian Privacy Principles you have the right to:

  • Ask what personal information we hold about you and request a copy
  • Ask us to correct information that is inaccurate or out of date
  • Make a privacy complaint — first to us, then to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) if you're not happy with our response

Forms and online communication

Information you submit through the forms on this website (bookings, contact messages, referrals, feedback) is stored securely and treated as health information from the moment we receive it. We send a confirmation email with a reference number; keep that reference so we can find your submission quickly if you call.

Cookies and analytics

We use Google Analytics to understand which pages are useful to visitors. This collects anonymised usage data — IP addresses are truncated, no health information is sent to Google. You can opt out via your browser settings or the official Google Analytics opt-out add-on.

Contact us about your information

Privacy enquiries go to our Practice Manager. Call (02) 6046 9755 or email contact@borderradiology.com.au with "Privacy enquiry" in the subject line.

If you're not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au or on 1300 363 992.
