Bulk billing
Almost every Medicare-rebated scan, bulk billed.
Almost every Medicare-rebated study we do is bulk billed, and for pension and concession card holders it's every one. Same standard of imaging, same radiologists.

Bulk billed (no out-of-pocket)
- General X-rays — every region we image
- All dental X-rays: OPG and Lateral Ceph (with referral)
- CT scans (all body regions, except Calcium Scores) with a referral
- CT-guided injections
- Rebateable MRI scans on our new Siemens scanner
- Every Medicare-rebated study for pension and concession card holders, ultrasound included
- Bone density (DEXA) scans where you're eligible
Flat-fee or gap may apply

Cardiac calcium scoring is not Medicare-rebated. A GP referral is required.

3D / 4D baby scan$205

Same standard
Bulk-billed doesn't mean cheap-and-cheerful.
Same Canon CT scanner. Same sub-specialty radiologists. Same calm waiting room and same friendly reception team — whether you're paying nothing or paying a flat fee.
The how
What bulk billing means in practice.
When a scan is bulk billed, Border Radiology accepts the Medicare rebate as full payment for the service. You sign one form at reception and walk out without paying a cent. We do the billing paperwork directly with Medicare.
For a scan to qualify, two things need to be true: (1) the study you're having is on the Medicare Benefits Schedule with a rebate, and (2) you have a current referral from a GP or specialist (or another eligible referrer — dentist, podiatrist, chiropractor). Pension and concession card holders are bulk billed for every Medicare-rebated study. For everyone else, ultrasound, ultrasound-guided injections and biopsies have a private gap.
For services like CT Calcium Score and 3D/4D baby scans, there's no Medicare rebate available — these are flat-fee studies. Reception quotes the cost up front so there are no surprises.
Still got questions?
Reception can quote you in 60 seconds.
Tell us your scan and we'll tell you exactly what (if anything) you'll pay before you walk in.
